Make Calls While Roaming - Made Easy By Pay As You Go Phones

Pay-as-you-go phones are also known as prepaid wireless phones. More credit can be added to these phones whenever needed. However, most often there is a time limit on these prepaid phones. If you don't add credit to these phones before the time limit ends, you will lose the remaining balance as well.

These phones differ from other mobile phones only in their billing. You need to purchase the mobile services before you actually start using these phones. After purchasing credit, you can access the network you paid for without any ongoing billing. You can then continue using the mobile phone as long as the credit limit doesn't expire.

Years ago, roaming often usually worked within the own network of particular CSPs, whereas roaming over other CSP's was something that wasn't permitted. This was due to the CSP having no way for billing calls in real-time. A mechanism is needed for billing calls, SMSing (text) and using the data to the home network of the account holder. There are various mechanisms that are used for allowing roaming. However, there are many prepaid cards across the world today that allow roaming in some form or the other, although some still don't offer this, for example T-Mobile.

There's a method in the pay-as-you-go phone in which there's a "trigger" number that you can dial from foreign locations. Then the call would be returned by your actual CSP. In this, you have to pay for the call back made by the server and the time you spent talking on that call. The service then lets you type the roaming mobile or landline number you want to call. There are some operators who let you dial a sequence-of-numbers that includes access digits for accessing the home-service with the desired roaming number following it.

Another of the most common method includes the use of CAMEL technology. CAMEL stands for Customised Application of Mobile Enhanced Logic. This method allows instant billing for home networks. This is certainly the most transparent method as you can directly dial all roaming calls just as if you would in your home country.

Pay-as-you-go mobile phones allow you to stay connected to the world that too without even worrying for the huge bills, as you already know the amount that you are spending.
